Diana She is fit and well but no longer available
to adopt
Diana was born at the Sanctuary on Tuesday 2nd September 1997 to Spice – a 19-year-old donkey we rescued in November 1996 from Great Shefford
, near Newbury. As Spice was alone in a field when we collected her, we did not know she was in foal at the time. As with all new arrivals, Spice was given an initial examination by our vet – although her condition was poor when she arrived, she responded well to treatment and went on to have a normal pregnancy and birth. Diana has grown into a very pretty donkey, although she is a little smaller than her mother.
To publicise the work of the Sanctuary, we take part in a number of donkey shows throughout the year. Diana is an excellent show donkey. In 2000, she won the class for best filly under three-years-old at the Three Counties Show and went on to win the overall Championship for best female donkey in show.
2004 and 2005 were also very successful years for Diana. She was best mare at the Devon County Show, Thame Show, Royal Windsor Show and Gransden Show and she was also Reserve Supreme Champion at the Three Counties Show. Whenever Diana goes out to a shows, we expect her to come back to the Sanctuary with lots of rosettes.
